Division 1, 2, and 3 rankings will be determined based upon the total score (Market Surplus, zms in the Formulation Document). Only zms values that are positive for feasible solutions will be counted. All other results will be treated as 0.0. 

Division 4, 5, and 6 rankings are based on the count of top scores for each scenario in Divisions 1, 2, and 3.

Note that the number of scenarios with best scores (186) is less than the number of scenarios evaluated (197). This is because there were 3 scenarios where only the Benchmark reported feasible positive zms values and 8 scenarios where no team, including the Benchmark, reported feasible positive zms values. The Benchmark yields a positive zms for the 8 (7 for D1 and 4 for D2) only when it is allowed to exceed the time limit. The results for these cases (in bold font) are reported in the table of 5 best teams below. As a matter of record, the Benchmark had 6 of the best scores in Division 4, 29 in Division 5, 26 in Division 6 and 61 over all.

Statistics

Other rankings are possible. In this next one, a scaled score is the scenario score as in Divisions 1-3, but divided by the best score for that scenario before summing. This gives more weight to the smaller problems. The ensemble score becomes the number of scenarios being summed.

Here is the list of scenarios used by Event 2 and the scores and times for the 5 best performers on each scenario. There were 9 scenarios where no team produces a positive zms within the time limit (the Benchmark produced results only by exceeding the time limits) and others where a positive value was produced by only one team. We are leaving all of the scenarios in the Sandbox in preparation for Events 3 and 4. The 6708-bus system is taken from industry and, while available in the Sandbox, only the zms will be made available after a run and it will not be included in any downloadable file.
