Data Format updates

Changes to the Challenge 3 Data Format document dated January 24, 2023 (v1.1.3)

• Section 2.5 (page 7/top): The symbol references for accumulated down time (accu down time) and accumulated

up time (accu up time) are added to correctly reflect the symbols in the formulation document.

Changes to the Challenge 3 Data Format document dated December 1, 2022 (v1.1.2)

List of updates for: v1.1.2

• Section 2.5 (page 6/middle): The symbol references for start-up upper bounds (startups_ub), energy requirement

upper bounds (energy_req_ub), and energy requirement lower bounds (energy_req_lb) are updated

to correctly reflect the symbols in the formulation document. Minor edits on the table format (width & table

length) were performed to cope with the changes.

• Section 2.3 (page 5/top): Contingency participation factor (con_loss_factor) is removed from the data format to avoid confusion.

• Section 2.2 (page 4/bottom): Energy violation costs (e_vio_cost) for violating energy constraints are added.

• Section 3.2 (page 12/bottom): An example for energy violation costs (e_vio_cost) is added.

• Section 2.1 (page 4/top): Rephrase the description for the General JSON object attributes. Previous versions describe these attributes incorrectly as global attributes.

• Section 2.5 (page 7/top): Rephrase the description for the cost attribute for dispatchable devices. Previous versions incorrectly describe the number of array levels for the attribute.

Challenge 3 input data consists of a single JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) file.

JSON is also used for the solution file that must be written by the solver and is used to score the results.

Division 1: Real-Time Market with 8-hour look ahead -- 8 0.25-hour periods, 8 0.5-hour periods, 2 1-hour periods

Division 2: Day-Ahead Market with 48-hour look ahead -- 48 1-hour periods

Division 3: Week-Ahead Advisory with 7-day (168-hour) look ahead -- 42 4-hour periods.

All time periods are given in hours.
