Challenge 1 - Original Dataset 1 Change Log

NOTES:

March 29, 2019. The CON file in Original Dataset 1, Network_10, scenario 2 (Offline and Real-Time) was updated to remove the contingency {CONTINGENCY T_000259138-; OPEN BRANCH FROM BUS 259 TO BUS 6855 CIRCUIT 1; END}, lines 5677 - 5679 of case.con were deleted. This contingency referred to a transformer that is out-of-service. The zip file has not been updated.

March 27, 2019. The CON file in all versions of Network 10 scenario 1 was updated to remove 6 contingencies with no events, i.e., lines 64-71 and 102-105 of case.con were deleted. The zip file has not been updated.

 

CHANGE LOG:

Original_Dataset_1-5.zip was released March 22, 2019, with the following changes to the previous version:

  • Minor changes to Network 3 Real-Time raw files to fix a switched shunt precision problem.
  • Major changes to Network 10 to fix cost function data problems and clean up raw file. All Network 10 results are different. Previous OD1 submissions need to be rerun.

Original_Dataset_1-4.zip was released March 5, 2019, with the following changes to the previous version:

  • All Offline starting points now have consistent values: VM = 1.0 and VA = PG = QG = BINT = 0. (This resolved an inconsistency between Real-Time and Offline raw files for scenario 5 of Network 10)
  • The Real-Time starting points for Networks 1 and 5 were "too good" and have been changed to economical unconstrained solutions like the other networks.
  • Problems (non--convex cost curves) with the ROP files used by Networks 3 and 7 have been fixed.
  • Problems (inconsistent keywords) with the CON files used by Networks 3 and 7 have been fixed.
  • The origin/destination buses in the CON files used by Network 10 have been made consistent with the corresponding RAW file.
  • All ROP files now use a consistent Section termination syntax.

Original_Dataset_1-3.zip was released December 7, 2018, with the following changes to the previous version:

  • Files for Network_10-10 were updated and restored.

Original_Dataset_1-2.zip was released November 26, 2018, with the following changes to the previous version:

  • Missing data elements not used by Challenge 1 but are part of the standard raw data format were added.
  • Separate contingency files were created for each raw file.
  • Files for Network_10-10 were removed pending further updates.

Original_Dataset_1-1.zip was released November 4, 2018, with the following changes to the previous version:

  •  The case.con files in Network_10-10 were replaced for all scenarios except scenario_5. The case.con files are the same in both Real-Time and Offline editions of the dataset. 

As explained in Appendix A.1 of the Formulation, the industry standard data formats include some data elements that are not used by the Challenge 1 problem and some of these data elements are were not present in Original_Dataset_1 prior to 11/26/2018. As of 11/26/2018 missing data elements have been added to conform to industry standards. The dataset is useable and correct if these data elements are ignored, but anyone interpreting the data downloaded prior to 11/26/2108 using industry standard parsers may encounter problems.
